The Decatur County Family YMCA

In 1914, Nelson Mowrey donated $100,000 to the city of Greensburg for the YMCA.    The Y opened its doors at 225 N. Broadway St. in Greensburg in 1915.  By 1916, the YMCA had 459 members.  A feasibility study conducted in 1996 indicated a strong need for a larger and up-to-date facility.  A Capital Campaign was launched in 1998, and the grand opening of the new facility was January 9, 2000.

The YMCA is a human service organization dedicated to meeting the program needs of the citizens of Decatur County.

We serve all age groups from infants to seniors by offering programs that help develop life skills such as self-esteem and self-respect.

Programs include aerobic classes, Yoga, youth leagues and classes, strength training classes; preschool, after school camp, summer day camp, and water aerobic classes - just to name a few.

Day passes are available for adults and families.

The Decatur County Family YMCA programs promote character development characteristics such as honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility that help all people lead happy and fulfilled lives.
